SCF: Carpitella Rentals / Dead Tenant?

I must say, some of the most interesting things appear on SeeClickFix:

I have called 911 and the police station with times of day, plate numbers, descriptions of people coming and going and nothing has happened. I haven’t contacted the landlord because he is a slim ball [sic] and I don’t want to put my house in jeopardy. I will try the councilman’s office. Any other ideas?

Followed by this comment:

The man renting the house overdosed and died. No idea what happened to his kid. Inside the house was a dog that hadn’t been walked in weeks (lots of dog poo everwhere), bed bugs, flees,roaches and pizza boxes. Really?

2205 Sepviva Street in Fishtown is the property, with an absentee landlord as the owner.

Also, we noticed that Mr. Carpitella is an active property owner.  He went to zoning last year in March to split up one of his houses on Frankford Ave:

Right away we see the other properties that Ed Carpitella owns.   Let’s browse, shall we?   We sampled some of these and the taxes seem to be paid up.

We also had a look at Mr. Carpitella in court records. While he was a busy boy earlier last decade, the L&I and Revenue cases seem to have quickly trailed off around 2008.

This usually indicates one of three things:  the owner is clearing up his issues, L&I inspections are falling off, or corruption.   We hope it’s the first case.

Over in Common Pleas we see only a few items that are interesting:

Carpitella sued the BRT over a tax appraisal, which the City of Philadelphia successfully quashed.

Also, the ZBA hearing that Carpitella went for splitting 2410 Frankford Avenue into 4 units was appealed.   Common Pleas granted his appeal and it’s scheduled to go before the ZBA again for a hearing.
