The Philadelphia Revenue Department offers installment agreements for those who have great difficulty putting together the large lump-sum payment due March 31st every year.
Installments are done in coupon form. At the same time the City can also determine if you qualify for senior or low-income relief. If you want to discuss your case directly with the Revenue Department, take a visit to the Municipal Services Building (15th and JFK, the building with the Rizzo statue out front), go to the basement, follow the sign that says “TAXES –>” and ask to speak with the Real Estate Tax Unit. They can help you fill out the form in person. Best time to go visit is between 8:30AM to 3:00PM, M-F (excluding state holidays).
