Could Senator Stack Kill AVI?

SB1505 is presently sitting in the Finance Committee of the PA Senate.

Right at the top of the bill is this gem:

Section 1.1. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary,
the governing body of a city of the first class with the
authority to assess and levy taxes on real property situated in
a city of the first class shall be prohibited from increasing
the rate of taxation on any class of real property owners until
the governing body has achieved a rate of collection of such tax
at a rate of at least ninety-five percent.

Obviously, if this thing gets any traction, it will make the Mayor, City Council and the SDP shit their pants.

The Finance committee did meet today, but this bill wasn’t on the agenda.   We’ll have to keep an eye on it.   If you want to check for yourself, you can view the committee’s calendar here.
