Remember the White Elephant from yesterday?
2301 N FRONT St is a "green building". And by green we mean plants growing in the masonry.
Well, the Department of Housing and Urban Development says quite clearly, Mr. Waisbord happened to get a little too racist for their liking. Specifically, a black prospective tenant approached Mr. Waisbord and his rental company, Rhawn Street Apartments, and was turned down for an apartment that a white person later rented for less than what was offered to the black tenant.
That’s all water under the bridge now, since the case is settled.
But what’s more interesting about this LLC registration?
Ahh ok so he registered it back to the White Elephant.
What a shocker. Why am I not surprised that a 5 story building in Kensington, 1 floor of which is occupied and the rest have broken windows, is the headquarters for his apartment rental company?
Daniel and Ava Waisboard happen to own a number of properties in their rental portfolio. In fact, they own enough property, one has to wonder why the Waisbords have done nothing with sealing the upper floors of the White Elephant building. Was it out of willful neglect, rather than a simple strain on capital?
I don’t know the answer to that question, but what I do know is that they own quite a bit of property, much registered directly in their names. And I’ll give Daniel and Ava Waisbord credit where credit is due: Pat Meehan and HUD may have slammed them for being racist to a prospective tenant, but at least they pay their property taxes.
